DARING GREATLY SHINES AT WONDERFRONT FESTIVAL - SAN DIEGO

This past November, San Diego welcomed the highly anticipated Wonderfront Music and Arts Festival for its 2nd edition. Over 24 months of built-up excitement culminated into what fans had been waiting for: a weekend of music, arts, and fun. And when Daring Greatly took to the stage alongside some of today's biggest headliners - Zac Brown Band, Kings of Leon Young The Giant & Gwen Stefani – they brought an unforgettable performance with them - and shined brightly! From loyal die-hard followers singing along to every word, to new admirers showered with appreciation; it’s safe say their debut at this event made waves over everyone who attended!

THE MAIN STAGE

Daring Greatly wowed the crowd with their performance on the main stage on Friday afternoon, supporting CMA female vocalist of the year, Lainey Wilson and alternative rock group, Young the Giant. Daring Greatly exploded onto the stage with an impressive setlist that featured classics such as ‘Shine’ and 'Big Things Are Comin' from their debut album - ‘Cornerstones.' Not only did they manage to build upon their existing fan base during this show, but also made it clear why their is a lot of excitement heading into the new year. The bands newest member, Matt Spatol, who joined the band in the later half of 2021 on bass guitar, has since given their music an edgier and more dynamic sound - which listeners got to witness on the big stage on Friday. Fans have noticed his stage presence and the energy from newer hits that he brought to the band such as "Rebel Soul,” "Bad Love,” and one remarkably countrified rock tune some may know as “The Whisky Song” — sung by Liam Croome. In this song, we get chance to see Liam take center stage and step away from his usual role on keyboard allowing his voice to soar through each breath-taking verse, showcasing his impressive dynamic vocal range that has not been explored yet with Daring Greatly’s music.

To end the set, Patrick Croome lit up the stage with a powerful vocal performance of "Shotgun," before introducing each band member during an electrifying breakdown. The set was rounded out by David Mills' memorable electric guitar solo, which brought the house down in soulful and roaring fashion.

the SUGAR SHACK Sessions

To the delight of fans, Friday night at the Wonderfront, attendees saw an extra special performance that was professionally filmed and recorded. After performing to a large crowd earlier in the afternoon, we moved to an intimate venue with energy and enthusiasm running high - viewers were asked politely by camera operators for some temporary seating. The show included fan favourites such as 'Leaving' and ‘Give Myself to the World,’ making it truly memorable!

The band performed a captivating take on CSN&Y’s “Find The Cost Of Freedom,” entwined into their own song titled “The Other Side," this combination sent chills through the air and capped off with raucous standing ovation lasting through four songs! This passionate display even garnered coverage in San Diego Union Tribune (November 19).

Not to be outdone, the fresh-faced San Diego band Daring Greatly included a heartfelt version of the 1970 Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young chestnut, “Find the Cost of Freedom,” during its semi-acoustic Friday set on the intimate Sugarshack Sessions Stage. — BY GEORGE VARGA NOV. 19, 2022 3:50 PM PT from “Wonderfront heats up with countrified classic-rock flavor, thanks to Zac Brown Band and Lainey Wilson”

In its wake came emotion-filled reflections from both fans and musicians - some moved to tears by music's capacity for unity across different walks of life — a powerful testament to art's power in connecting us all together no matter where we come from.

THE SPIRIT OF SAN DIEGO BOAT PERFORMANCES

Daring Greatly set sail on the Spirit of San Diego for the remaining two days of the festival, rocking two stellar sets each day and treating guests to a beautiful mix of originals and covers with the stunning backdrop of San Diego Bay. The band received an overwhelming ovation from both die-hard fans and new listeners alike - making this memorable performance one for all aboard! The setlist included some of their most popular songs in their live set, including their new band instrumental, “Space Jam.”

The Wonderfront Festival proved to be an amazing opportunity for Daring Greatly to showcase their musical talent on a larger stage than ever before. The band has further honed their sound, introducing more varied rhythms, textures and dynamics. Their impressive harmonies are still at the core of their music but now they’re supported by a full rhythm section and electric guitars that really help bring their songs to life on stage.

2023 is coming, and you best be willing to hold on tight!
